Bio
KIHEW
INDIGENOUS | CANADIAN | ENTREPRENEUR
Born in Vancouver, BC, KIHEW—meaning "Eagle" in the Plains Cree Indigenous language—is a rising Hip-Hop artist from Canada. With a passion for music ignited at the age of three through traditional singing and drumming, KIHEW later discovered his love for hip-hop during the influential G-Unit and Eminem era. By the time he entered grade school, he was already creating and writing his own lyrics.
At just 15, KIHEW saved enough money to invest in his own home recording equipment. His breakthrough came with the release of his first single, "Train of Thoughts," on SoundCloud, which quickly captured the attention of Canadian media outlets like Global TV and Alberta Primetime. The track went viral across Canada, leading to an unexpected approach from an A&R at Universal Music Group Canada. However, KIHEW realized he needed more content and music business experience to be a serious contender for a record deal. While the buzz from his debut song was significant, he wasn't yet established enough for industry executives to take him seriously.
Fast forward eight years, KIHEW has released five music videos available on YouTube. He is set to launch his first 14-track album titled "THE REAL," which will be available on all digital streaming platforms on November 22, 2024. With his unique sound and dedication, KIHEW is undoubtedly emerging as one of the best-sounding artists in Canada.
